Helen M. (Schaeffer) Genslinger, 89, formerly of 128 Raymond Street, Hyde Park, died March 14th at 4:20 am in Reading Hospital and Medical Center where she had been since Saturday.
She was taken there from Spruce Manor, West Reading, where she had resided for seven years.
Genslinger was the widow of Earl H. Genslinger, who died March 12, 1992.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Carrie (Adams) Schaeffer.
Genslinger worked as a cook and waitress for 50 years at the Goodwill Beneficial Association, retiring in 1989.
She was a former President of both the Ladies auxiliary of Goodwill Fire Company and the Keystone Fire Chief's auxiliary.
Genslinger is survived by two sons, Harold H. of Hyde Park and Scott H. of North Carolina.
She is also survived by a brother, Michael Schaeffer of Reading and a sister, Margaret (Schaeffer) Kershner of Shillington.
There are five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Rev. Aristides Fokas officiating. Viewing from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial in Spies Zion Church Cemetery, Alsace Township.
