Helen H. Kunkel

Helen H. "Mom-Mom" Kunkel, 74, of Hyde Park, died April 3, 2010 in the Mifflin Center.

She was the wife of Gerald L. Kunkel.

Born in Jackson Township, she was a daughter of the late Simon M. and Eva A. (Spannuth) Hixenheiser.

Helen loved children, she babysat and ran a daycare out of her home for many years. She was a mom-mom to many and she will be dearly missed.

She was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church, Muhlenberg Township.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons: Jeffrey A., husband of Lori Kunkel, Wernersville; Terry L, husband of Cheri Kunkel, Hamburg and Jerry L, husband of Sue Kunkel, Wernersville. Also surviving is her brother George Hixenheiser, West Myerstown and her sisters: Mabel Hartman, Shaefferstown and Betty Rutter, Jackson Township. Other survivors include seven grandchildren: Jeffrey, Douglas, Kris, Holly, Becky, Seth and Hannah.

She was predeceased by her brother, John Hixenheiser.

Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
