Helen E. Koumaras, 87, of Wyomissing, went to her Lord on January 15, 2007 in Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was the wife of Stratton Koumaras for 63 years.

Helen was born in Reading on May 11, 1919 to the late Euripedis and Mary (Calludis) Mavrides.

Mrs. Koumaras was a member of SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading, where she was a member of the St. Xenia Philoptochos Society.

She was a teacher's aide for the Reading School District. Helen was also a graduate of Reading High School and Reading Area Community College.

Other survivors include one son, Dr. George S. Koumaras and his wife Carolyn, San Diego, CA and one daughter, Barbara (Koumaras) Futrick and her husband Mike, Reading. Five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive her.

Helen is survived by her brothers, Constantine (Gus) Mavrides, Flying Hills and Michael Mavrides, Lancaster and her sister, Florence Vlassis, Lancaster. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Helen was a kind and loyal woman who devoted her life to the care of her family. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking and the Greek community. She was a proud and wonderful "YiaYia" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd. Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Contributions may be made to SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at the above address. Edward J.
