Helen I. (Miller) Houck, 81, passed away January 9, 2015, in her Muhlenberg Township residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hamburg, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Speicher) Miller.
Helen was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School.
She enjoyed crocheting, Bingo, and cross-stitching.
She worked for CNA Insurance in the Commercial Rates Dept. for 25 years, retiring February 1, 1997. After retirement, Helen worked 9 years as a secretary for Ludwig Trophies.
She is survived by five children, James Houck, Reading, Susan, wife of Robert Jacoby, Sr., Bern Township, Connie, wife of Earl "Pete" Hillbish, Jr., Muhlenberg Township, Nancy, wife of John Kase, Stevens, and Cheryl Houck, Reading; two sisters, Minerva, wife of Thomas Scalese, Sr., Sinking Spring, and Mary Graeff, Douglassville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by her companion, Robert H. Steiner, Sr. whom resided with her.
Helen was always fond of her uncle, Robert Miller.
She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Miller and sisters, Pearl Kercher and Anna Hoffman.
Helen's family would like to thank the wonderful care given to her by Berks Visiting Nurses Hospice, Tony, Brittney, Stacey and Maria.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berks Visiting Nurses Hospice or a charity of your choice. Edward J.
