Helen V. Horning, 96, of Bern Township, formerly of Shillington, died January 1, 2012 in Berks Heim, where she had been a resident since January 2010.

Her husband, Andrew C. Horning, passed away in 1970.

Born in North Manheim Township, she was a daughter of the late Andrew F. and Vallie Dora (Seifert) Fisher.

She was a 1933 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School.

Helen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Shillington, where she taught Sunday School for over 42 years. In later years she attended St. Luke's Evangelical Congregation Church, Shillington.

She was active in various senior activities and was an avid reader and sewer.

Helen is survived by three daughters: Ruth N., widow of Rev. James W. Adam, Reading; Jean R., wife of Richard J. Sweigart, Brecknock Township and Wendy L., widow of Glenn D. Earley, Shillington. Also surviving are her brother, Warren H. Fisher; her four grandchildren: Rebecca Schafer, Matthew Sweigart, Andrew Earley, Isaac Earley and her two great-grandchildren: Ayla Schafer and Cora Schafer.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Andrea L. Horning and four siblings: Dorothy, William, Harold and Dawn.

A Memorial Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Evangelical Congregation Church, 315 W. Broad St., Shillington. A visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
