Helen J. Haines-Bortz

Helen J. (Lindsley) Haines-Bortz, 100, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, died June 6th at 2:30 pm in ManorCare Health Services, West Reading, where she had been since October 20, 2000.

She was predeceased by her first husband Chester J. Haines, who died May 22, 1947 and her second husband Charles H. Bortz, who died in 1970.

Born in East Orange, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Richard E. and Julia Irene (Monahan) Lindsley.

She was an interior decorator for many years before retiring in 1965.

Bortz was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading.

She is survived by a daughter, Irene H. (Haines) widow of Al Hipple of Muhlenberg Township and a son, Chester J. Jr., husband of Joyce M. (Rauenzahn) Haines of Laureldale.

There are also four grandsons and seven great grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 am in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Rev. Charles E. Fair officiating. Viewing 10am until time of service.
