Helen E. Gray

Helen E. (McSweeney) Gray, 89, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away Dec. 28, 2006, in Highlands at Wyomissing.

Her husband, John B. Gray, passed away on June 21, 2003.

Born in Garrett, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Lucille (Shrock) McSweeney.

Helen worked as a dietitian for Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, for nine years until her retirement in 1950.

She received her bachelor of science degree in home economics in 1939 from St. Mary of the Woods, Terre Haute, Ind.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Helen was president of the Sacred Heart Society in 1958.

She is survived by a son, Robert L., husband of Kathleen Gray, Huntingtown, Md.; and a daughter, Ann G. (Gray), wife of George Jakabcin, Falls Church, Va.

There also are three grandchildren: Lauren Edwards, Claire Jakabcin and Ana Jakabcin.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah Gray.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township.
