Helen M. Baver, 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown after a brief illness. She was the wife of David Baver, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Auburn, she was a daughter of the late George and Marguerite (Strausser) Haller. Helen worked for Wright's Knitwear in Auburn as a folder for many years. Helen will be remembered for her strong spirit and never missing a day of work. Helen was a good cook and was known by many for her homemade pot pie. One tough cookie, Helen wasn't shy about sharing her opinion but she also shared whatever she had, often giving away items to families that she determined were in need. A long-time member of St. John's Church in Port Clinton, she enjoyed volunteering for church events. She also served as the treasurer for the Port Clinton Fish & Game Association.
In addition to her husband, Dave, Helen is survived by a daughter, Kelly Dunkle, wife of Richard, of Orwigsburg; and a son, Michael Baver of Salado, TX; grandchildren: Erika and Amy Dunkle; as well as siblings: George, Betty, Joy, Suzanne, and Wayne. She was preceded in death by brothers, David, John, and Paul, and sisters, Bonnie and Carol.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm in St. John's Cemetery in Hamburg.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life with a meal provided by St. John's Church, Port Clinton, immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Church, 36 Penn Street, PO Box 102, Port Clinton, PA 19549.
