Dr. Heber E. Yeagley, retired radiology department chairman at the Reading Hospital, died March 8 at 6:35 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient one week.

Yeagley, 78, Wyomissing, a resident of the Highlands at Wyomissing since September, was the husband of June R. (Royer) Yeagley.

He was employed by the Reading Hospital for many years, retiring in 1992 as radiology department chairman.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary Elizabeth (Ermentrout) Yeagley.

Yeagley was a 1944 graduate of Reading High School and a 1948 graduate of Albright College. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia.

He was a Navy veteran.

Yeagley interned at the Reading Hospital.

He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, where he was a former council president.

Yeagley was a past vice president of Threshold of Berks County Inc.

He was named a fellow of the American College of Radiology in 1978.

Yeagley was a past president of the Wyomissing Public Library.

He was a past membership committee member of the Forest Lake Club, Hawley, Wayne County.

Yeagley is also survived by a son, Jonathan E., Berwyn, Chester County; and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Yeagley) Novosel, Wexford, Allegheny County.

Other survivors include four grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Sunday 5 p.m.-7p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
