Hazel May Zerbe

Hazel May Zerbe, 94, of Reading, passed away December 20, 2016, in the Reading Hospital.

Born in Elverson, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Kathryn (Gerhart) Elliott.

Her husband, Carl Zerbe, passed away on April 10, 2012.

She was employed for many years by the Reading Laundry and David Crystal.

Hazel was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, West Reading.

She loved her family, enjoyed taking care of her home, attended church when she was able, and was a dedicated worker before her retirement.

Hazel is survived by her two daughters: Vivian D., wife of Steven Potter, Glendale, AZ; and Patricia Bernasconi, Upper Darby; one step-son, Jeffrey Zerbe, Reading, one step-daughter, Carolyn M., wife of Barry Kemp, Exeter Township; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Bernard Elliott; a brother, Robert Elliott; and two sisters, Beatrice Saltzer and Dorothy Heimbach.

Services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 336 Franklin Street, West Reading, PA 19611.
