Harvey M. Buckman, 80, of the Highlands at Wyomissing died July 16 at 8:49 a.m. in Reading Hospital.
His wife, Julia S. (Scheffey) Buckman, died Dec. 20, 1997.
Born in Swarthmore, Delaware County, he was a son of the late Howard and Ethel (Harvey) Buckman.
Buckman was president and chief executive officer of Underwriter Reinsurance Services, Atlanta and San Francisco; Wachovia Insurance Services, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and American General Management Corp., Allentown.
He was also employed for 11 years as director of youth services for the Reading-Berks YMCA, retiring in 1988.
Buckman was a 1941 graduate of George School, Newtown, Delaware County, and a 1949 graduate of Earlham College, Richmond, Ind., with a bachelor's degree in economics.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Buckman was a member of the Society of Friends and attended the Reading Monthly Meeting.
Surviving are a son, Andrew P., Indian Valley, Va., and a daughter, Catherine B. (Buckman) Iannuzzi, Richland, Lebanon County.
Other survivors include a brother, F. Preston, and a sister, Marianne (Buckman) Ewing, both of Gwynedd, Montgomery County.
There are also two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Maidencreek Friends Meeting, Maidencreek Township. Burial will be private in Maidencreek Cemetery, Blandon. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
