Harry Lamont Schaeffer, 97, died June 16, 2012 in his Bern Township residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Mildred Evelyn (Kerr) Schaeffer who died Novomber 1, 2005.
Born November 15, 1914 in Albany Township, he was a son of the late Llewellyn and Maude (Seidel) Schaeffer.
Harry was self-employed as a farmer for over 60 years, retiring in 1992. He was well known for "Schaeffer's Sweet Corn."
He was the oldest member of Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, Kutztown.
Harry was proud of his local postcards which were published in George Meiser's Passing Scene through Berks Historical Society of Reading.
Surviving are two daughters: Nancy L., wife of Marlin R. Hunsicker of Tilden Township and Janice A., wife of George W. Mills of Lower Heidelberg Township.
Other survivors include a sister, Ruth, wife of Frederick Adam of Maidencreek Township; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Hinkle, Tiffany Wetzel and Jennifer Watkins; two step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.
Harry was predeceased by two sisters, Elsie Adam and Anna Schaeffer, who died as an infant.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Zion Moselem Lutheran Church. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:30-8 in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale and Thursday from 9:30 until the time of service, in the church. Burial will be in Zion Moselem Cemetery, Kutztown.
