Harry I. Reeser, Jr., 63, died March 31, 2010 in his West Reading residence.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of Florence A. (Blatt) Reeser, West Reading, and the late Harry I. Reeser, Sr.
He was a 1964 graduate of West Reading High School.
Harry was a Vietnam War veteran of both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines serving as a medic in each branch. He concluded his military career as a reservist for two years.
While serving in the Navy during the Vietnam War he earned the Naval Achievement Medal for performance and participation in 4 major combat operations including: Operations Taylor Common, Muskogee Meadow and Durham Peak. He also served in Guantanamo Bay.
Harry was employed for 30 years as a chemist for Gilbert Associates and later Spotts, Stevens and McCoy. He was the parking enforcement officer for 13 years for the Boro of West Reading, retiring in February 2009.
Harry was the Captain of the West Reading Fire Police for 30 years, retiring in 2006.
He was a life member of: West Reading Fire Company; VFW, General Hunter Liggett Post 38, Reading and Berks County Fireman's Association; he was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Fire Company.
Harry was a longtime Reading and Philadelphia Phillies fan; and Hershey Bear enthusiast.
He was a member of Olivet Reformed Church, Reading.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
