Harry P. Zaharis

Harry P. Zaharis, 83, Reading, died July 27 in Berks Heim.

He was the husband of Catherine S. (Sofianos) Zaharis.

Born in Minersville, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Peter and Stavroula (Hantzes) Zaharis.

Zaharis was the owner of Zaharis Restaurant in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, for many years until his retirement.

He was a 1942 graduate of Minersville High School and a graduate of the Pierce Business School, Philadelphia.

Zaharis was a member of SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Zaharis is also survived by three daughters: Stephanie Z. (Zaharis) Stefanowicz, Dr. Vlacia Z. (Zaharis) Campbell, and Demetria Z. (Zaharis) Chupak, all of Reading.

Other survivors include four brothers: Thomas P., Pottsville; Wilson P. and George P., both of St. Clair, Schuylkill County; and Peter P., Minersville.

There are also six grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
