Harry James Heckman, Jr., 79, of Maidencreek Township, died October 8, 2007 at 7:50 pm in the Lutheran Home at Topton, where he had been a patient since September 13, 2007.
He was married, February 18, 1950 to Erma Elizabeth (Schmehl) Heckman.
Born in Leesport on November 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Harry J. Sr., and Margaret (Berg) Heckman.
He was a 1945 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.
Harry was employed for 35 years as a tool maker with Dana Corporation, Reading, retiring in 1983.
He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.
Harry was a 53 year member of St. John's (Gernant's) Lutheran Church, Ontelaunee Twp., where he served on church council for over 35 years and held every office.
He was a past assistant scout master of the Blandon Troop 183.
Harry is also survived by two children, Beverly Ann wife of Marvin Border of Danville and Mark David Heckman of Maidencreek Township.
Other survivors include three grandchildren, Margaret Border, Melissa Border and Jeffrey Border.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 2 pm in St. John's (Gernant's) Lutheran Church, Gernant's Church Road and Ontelaunee Drive. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Inurnment will be private in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church and mailed to P.O.
