Harold J. Mathews

Harold "Harry " J. Mathews, 82, of Flying Hills passed away July 23, 2016 in the Reading Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Beatrice (Blackwell) Mathews with whom he shared 28 years of marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Kritsberg) Mathews.

Harold graduated of Floral Park High School, New York.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Harold was employed by Guide Post Magazine as the manufacturing manager until retiring in July of 2006.

He was an avid golfer and loved to watch his favorite New York sports teams, the Mets, Rangers and the Giants.

In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by his children, Laurie Mathews Stuhrcke, wife of Tige Wade, Hampstead, NC, John Evans, Mt. Penn and Kimberly, wife of Derek Mast, Santa Barbara, CA. He is also survived by his siblings, Helen Rolli and Bill Mathews; grandchildren, Conor Stuhrcke, Maxfield Evans and Stella Mast and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Harold was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Mathews and brother, Thomas Mathews.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
