Gwenlyn Joy Gring

Gwenlyn Joy Gring, 78, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Chestnut Knoll Assisted Living. She was the wife of Charles Gring, with whom she shared 56 years before his passing in 2023.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Robert and June (Richards) Thornburg. After graduating Reading High School (Class of 1964), Gwen attended the McCann School of Business. She worked in the offices at Luden's before starting a family. After a break to raise her two daughters, Gwen returned to the workforce as a loan officer for Dana Credit Union where she worked for over 30 years.

Gwen was a tremendous Eagles fan. She enjoyed the music of Drum and Bugle Corps, and the New York Skyliners, in particular. The highlight of every year was the family's trip to Wildwood, NJ.

Gwenlyn is survived by two daughters, Kristie Rapp (Steven) of Blandon and Charlyn Gring of Shillington; and three grandchildren: Karlee, Zackary (Rhapsody) and Emma.

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Avenue West Reading, PA 19611. The family will receive friends and relatives from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Wyomissing Cemetery in Gouglersville.
