Guy R. Ketch, Jr. 70 of Hamburg died Saturday, January 30, 2016 in St. Joseph's Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Keating) Ketch to whom he was married to for 41 years. Guy was born in Summit, NJ., and was the son of the late Guy R. Ketch, Sr. and Muriel A. (Hicks) Ketch. He was a 1963 graduate of Ridge High School where he played quarterback. He graduated from Albright College in 1967. He spent the next 39 years as a teacher in the Hamburg Area School District. He last taught American Cultures in the 8th grade in the Hamburg Area Middle School retiring in 2006. Mr. Ketch was very active in Hamburg Athletics working as an assistant varsity football and track coach for over 25 years. He was a member of the Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Association, Gold Leaf Member. Guy was a member of the Hamburg Area Education Association and last worked for the Hamburg Borough Recreation Department. Guy was a wonderful man, father, husband, teacher, mentor and coach. He was a friend to all his students, players and always had time to help a friend in need. He was always interested in all his former students and their successes. He probably went to more Hamburg class reunions than any other teacher. He was instrumental in making the Hamburg Area Middle School what it is today. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. In addition to his wife, Pat he is survived by one daughter, Kristen M. Ketch, Temple and Terry Halteman, one son, Michael G. Ketch, Helmetta, NJ, and Devon Hippeli, one brother, John L. husband of Joanne Ketch, Spring, Texas and one sister, Diane K. Foster, Califon, NJ. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 6th at 2:00 PM in the Bridge Church, 3561 Old 22, Hamburg, PA. 19526. A viewing will be held in the church from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Hamburg Area Education Foundation, 701 Windsor Street, Hamburg, PA 19526 or The American Heart Association 212 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA. 18018.
