Services for Guy R. Essick, 40, of Beacon Avenue, Spring Township, will be Saturday at noon in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading.
Essick was found dead Aug. 7 in his residence after he shot himself, police said. The Berks County coroner's office is investigating.
He was the husband of Karen L. (Karper) Essick.
Born in Reading, Essick was a son of Grace D. (Wildermuth) Essick, Spring Township, and the late William R. Essick Jr.
He was employed as a salesman for Nabisco Co., Wyomissing, last working in October 1999.
Essick was the co-owner of Essick's Archery, Spring Township, since March 1987.
He was a 1979 graduate of Wilson High School and attended Penn State Berks Campus, Spring Township, and Berks Technical Institute.
Essick is also survived by two sons, Brenden J. and Austin J., and two daughters, Megan E. and Kalynn M., all at home.
Other survivors include two brothers, Michael P., Fayetteville, N.C., and William R. III, Spring Township.
