Gustav W. Sobottka, 80, of Tilden Township, died March 30, 2013 in Lebanon VA Hospital.
He was the husband of Mary (Ryan) Sobottka who died May 2, 2006.
Born June 13, 1932 in Kamp-Linfort, Germany, he was a son of the late Gustav and Theresia (Mazicovski) Sobottka.
He earned a journeyman plasterer's certificate from the Plasterers Guild, Kamp-Limfort, Germany.
A custom builder, Gustav owned and operated Sobottka Bannitza Builders Inc., Sinking Spring for 35 years.
Gustav served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He enjoyed golf and was a member of Oklahoma Golf Association at The Manor Golf Course and Heidleberg County Club.
Gustav played soccer for the Evergreen County Club. He also liked dancing at the Evergreen and Reading Leiderkranz.
He is survived by his companion, Fern J. Baker, Hamburg.
Also surviving is his son, Christopher W., husband of Noreen Sobottka, Bernville, and daughter, Erica L. Moloney, Corpus Christi, TX.
Additional survivors include his five grandchildren: Sean, Ryan, Brendan, Ciara and Michael and a great grandson, Riley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis de Sales Church, 321 N. Church Road, Robesonia. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the mass in church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
