Gregory S. Volutza, 37, of Wilshire Boulevard, Spring Township, died of natural causes Jan. 24 at 11:37 a.m. in the emergency room of Reading Hospital shortly after he had been stricken at work.

Volutza, a champion amateur golfer, was the husband of Dianne L. (Szajna) Volutza.

Born in Reading, he was a son of Joseph S. and Susan L. (Stoyko) Volutza, Pennside.

Volutza was employed since May 1997 as a pharmacist by the Giant Food Store, Spring Township.

He was a 1983 graduate of Mount Penn High School and a 1988 graduate of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.

Volutza was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

He was treasurer of the Berks County Pharmacy Association.

Volutza was the 1998 Pennsylvania Public Golf Champion.

He was the Berks County Amateur golf champion as well as partners champion in 2000, and the county's Senior-Junior golf champion in 2001.

Volutza was a former Berks County PIAA volleyball official.

He is also survived by a daughter, Erin N., at home, and a brother, Jeffrey M., Pennside.

Other survivors include his paternal grandparents, John and Dorothy (Eckert) Volutza, Reading, and maternal grandmother, Ruth (Pennypacker) Stoyko, Wyomissing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. Viewing will be held Monday 6:30 - 8:30 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
