Gregory L. Freeland, 49, died June 7, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. in his Alsace Twp. residence from lung cancer.

He was the husband of Carolyn L. (Royalty) Freeland, whom he married August 25, 1979.

Born on Travis Air Force Base, CA, he was a son of Jimmie L. and Catherine L. (Pitchers) Freeland, Petersburg, IN.

He was a graduate of Purdue University, earning a BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering in 1980.

Greg was a Senior Metallurgist for Carpenter Technology last working April 27. In his 27 years as a metallurgist, he worked at both Carpenter Technology and Rahns Specialty Metals.

He was a member of The Bridge/Berkshire Baptist Church, Grill, where he served as a Deacon and Royal Ambassador Leader. He also served as a Congregational Song Leader and a Preschool Music Leader.

Greg is also survived by his son, Chad L. Freeland, a senior at Virginia Tech University; and his daughter, Amber L. Freeland, a sophomore at Kutztown University. Other survivors include his two brothers, Steven L. Freeland and James L. Freeland, both of Petersburg, IN. Ten nieces and nephews; and two aunts and one uncle also survive him.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in The Bridge/Berkshire Baptist Church 902 Philadelphia Avenue Shillington, PA 19607. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
