Grace E. Yeager

Grace E. Yeager, 90 formerly of Leesport died Thursday in the Topton Lutheran Home. Grace was born in Perry Township and was the daughter of the late James and Eva (Balthaser) Yeager. She was a graduate of Kutztown State Teacher's College. She began her teaching career by driving with her sister to Alaska in a Volkswagen and teaching on a military base. She then taught at Tilden Elementary, Tilden Township for one year and then worked 30 years teaching first grade in the Governor Mifflin School District retiring in 1995. She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Township. A sister, Mary Jane Schiedt and several nieces and nephews, survives Grace. Seven brothers and sisters predeceased her. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12:00 noon from Zion's Evangelical Lutheran, 354 Zion's Church Road, Shoemakersville, PA 19555. A viewing will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of the church at the above address.
