Grace E. Rhoads

Grace E. Rhoads, 88, formerly of Colony Park, died March 18, 2010 in Berks Heim.

Her husband, Victor N. Rhoads, died June 25, 1974.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Alice Hertwig.

Grace was a 1939 graduate of Reading High School.

She was employed by the Reading Hospital and Medical Center as a nurses' aide until her retirement in 1984.

She is survived by her three children: Victor P. Rhoads, Sinking Spring; April L., wife of Richard F. Seiders and Robin E., wife of Michael C. Lewars, Sinking Spring. She is also survived by her sister, Mariam Marshall, SC. There are nine surviving grandchildren: Phillip, Erika, Jennifer, Peter, Charles, Mitch, Sarah, Ron and Wanda. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Alexis, Owen, Noah, Meghan, Ben and Eddie.

She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Hertwig and her sister, Alice Baker.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Berks Heim Residency Program Account, P.O. Box 1495, Reading, PA 19603.
