Grace R. Schlarb

Grace (Cassaro) Schlarb entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2018, at Reading Hospital.

Born on June 6, 1932, in Pittston, PA, she was the daughter of the late Trisa (Cosentino) and Steve Cassaro.

She was the devoted wife of Heinrich Schlarb with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. They were married August 28, 1976.

Grace was a 1949 graduate of Reading High School.

Employed by various banks for over 20 years, she started out as a teller and became an instructor for National Central Bank, later working in the International Department of American Bank. Grace formerly worked as an operator for Bell Telephone.

Grace was also a beauty consultant and color analyst last working at the Jeanette Shop in Reading.

A member of St. Margaret's Choir for over twenty years, Grace loved singing. She and Heinrich were also regulars on the dance floor at the Liederkranz German Club.

Before her illness, she enjoyed traveling to many places with her husband; one of the main highlights was their pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Egypt and Rome in 2000.

In addition to her husband Heinrich, Grace is survived by three children: Denise (Kubala), wife of Robert Newmyer, Pine Bush, NY; Joseph S. Kubala, Queens, NY; and Michael C. Kubala, New City, NY; two grandchildren: Dr. Robert Newmyer (Ismeldy) and great grandson Thomas, Syracuse, NY; and Lindsay (Newmyer), wife of Jerry Dancho, Saylorsburg, PA; two step children: Heinrich Schlarb (Crystal), Lebanon, PA; and Martina (Schlarb), wife of Alan Dahl, Wyomissing, PA; and three step grandchildren: Alex and Erica Dahl, and Jonathan Schlarb.

Also surviving is a brother, Albert Cassaro, Las Vegas, NV, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 11 a.m., at St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour before the Mass from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
