Gloria S. Taylor, 89, of Reading, PA, passed away, Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of James F. Taylor whom she married September 9, 1950. Born in West Hartford, CT she was the daughter of the late Hjalmar and Ann Swanson.

Gloria attended the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT. Gloria was a natural leader in anything she committed her time to. She served as Program Coordinator for the Echelon Mall Ministry in Voorhees, NJ for 17 years.

Gloria was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Reading where she served as a Deacon, and leader in the Stephen Ministry program. Gloria dedicated 50 years as a member of the PEO philanthropic organization.

Gloria had many special interests, traveling, painting, gardening, and camping. She held a special place in her heart for family trips to the coast of Maine. She made many friends in her years of traveling.

In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by two sons, Stephen and Joann (wife) of Estelle Manor, NJ, and Richard and Sheryl (wife) of Medford, NJ. A sister, Nancy Horsfield, wife of Richard Horsfield, Dayville, CT. She leaves three grandchildren, Kelly Thomas, Hartford, OH, Megan Swavely, Spring City, PA, and James (Jamie), Avon, CO; and three great grandchildren, Riley and Coleman Thomas and Koa Swavely. A sister-in-law, Helen Taylor, Chicago and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 34 South 5th St., Reading, PA. Burial will be in Gibbsboro, NJ at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or a charity of your choice in Gloria's name. Edward J.
