Gloria Angela Polyak

Gloria A. Polyak, 68, of Reading, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, March 20, 2023, after a hard-fought battle against adrenocortical carcinoma. She was the loving wife of Michael G. Polyak III, with whom she shared a marriage of 42 years.

Born in Reading to the late Alexander S. and Rose (Forte) Fontana, Gloria graduated from Reading High School in 1972 before enrolling at Kutztown State College, graduating with her Bachelor's Degree in 1976. Gloria last worked for the family business, Polyak Services, Inc., as the office manager.

She was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Parish, where she and Michael married in 1980. A devoted Catholic, Gloria volunteered her time at Cabrini Academy. Her family was very important to her, and she enjoyed family vacations to Aruba and Cape May. She treasured being a new Grammy.

Left to honor Gloria's memory is her husband, Michael; their daughters, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Chambers of Wyomissing and Katherine (Robert) Smythe of Springfield; and their grandson, Benjamin Smythe. Gloria is also survived by her siblings, Paul (Marylee) Fontana, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Snyder, David Fontana, and Susan Shott, as well as her nieces, nephews, and their families. Gloria was predeceased by her brother, Barry Fontana, and her nephew, Devin Fontana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 237 Franklin St, Reading PA 19602, with committal to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the start of mass. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be made at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
