Gloria M. Love

Gloria M. (Wentzel) Love, 81, Wernersville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 27 in The Reading Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born January 17, 1937 in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Stauffer) Wentzel. Gloria was married to Wilbur Love on August 17, 1957, and together they truly celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage.

A 1954 graduate of Reading High School, Gloria earned her RN at the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She was a nurse at the Reading Hospital for two years, and for Dr. John C. Kerst for 17 years before moving to the banking industry, where she was Vice President and Mortgage Loan Development Officer at the former Sovereign Bank from 1976 until her retirement in 1998.

Gloria was always active, even while lovingly raising her children. She completed various real estate courses at Penn State, was a former Board Member of Berks Food Bank, and Consistory member of St. John's Reformed Church, serving as former Financial Chairman and Consistory President several times. She was also past President of the Jaycee Wives of Reading, Camp Fire Girls Leader, Cub Scouts Den Mother, an active member of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing Alumni, and most recently, a member of the Phoebe Choraleers.

But most important to Gloria was her family. She especially enjoyed traveling with Wilbur, and was extremely happy on a cruise ship going someplace she had never been before.

In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by their two daughters, Sharon, wife of William Luyben, Wyomissing, and Rochelle, wife of Stanton Graeff, Wyomissing. She adored her grandchildren Nathaniel, Trevor and Elizabeth Luyben, and her step grandson Kyle Graeff.

Gloria was predeceased by her son Darrin in 2015, and her family takes great comfort knowing they are now reunited again. She was also predeceased by her brother Donald H. Wentzel.

The Love family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the doctors and nurses who so lovingly cared for Gloria at the Reading Hospital – Floor T1, and the Phoebe Berks Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

A Celebration of Gloria's life will be held Thursday, May 3 at 11:00am at St. John's Reformed Church, 4001 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring. Friends may call from 9:00am until 11:00am at the Church. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria's honor may be made to St. John's Reformed Church Memorial Fund at the address above.
