Gloria Iacone Greene died on Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Northfield, Minnesota.

Born in Reading on August 3, 1926 she was a daughter of the late F. Alexander and Mary Louise Vladi Iacone. Her father was a prominent haberdasher in Reading until his death in 1942.

Gloria was a gifted musician. Upon graduation from Reading High School, class of 1944, she received a full scholarship to the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, New York, where she received a bachelor's degree in organ. She earned a master's degree in sacred music from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She then became organist and choir master at the Washington Square Methodist Church in Greenwich Village, where her former classmate at Eastman, the renowned bass of Porgy and Bess fame, William Warfield and his wife, soprano Leontyne Price, where members of her choir. Throughout her career as an organist and choir director, she was an inspiration to others.

In 1953, Gloria married the Reverend Dr. Charles R. Greene, an Episcopal priest. He served as rector at churches in Pittsboro and Raleigh, North Carolina and Nyack, New York. Charles retired as Dean of the Cathedral of St. James in Chicago. He died in 2002. Since then, Gloria had resided in Northfield, Minnesota, near her daughter, Melissa Green Ousley and her family.

Gloria is survived by two daughters, Claire Greene and her husband Walter Garms and their daughter, Natalie of Berkeley, CA and Melissa Greene Ousley, her husband, Paul, and their children, Amelia and Parker of Northfield, MN. Also surviving are her two sisters, Sylvia Iacone Krug and Ann Iacone Kidd and her husband Tom, both of the Reading area and her brother, Jim Iacone and his wife Mimi of Southern Shores, NC.

Private memorial services will held in Reading and Nyack, NY. Gloria's ashes will be interred with those of her husband in the Columbarium at Grace Episcopal Church, Nyack, NY.
