Gloria A. Delucia

Gloria A. DeLucia, 82, of Cumru Township, died May 24, 2013 in ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township.

She was the wife of Angelo P. DeLucia who died June 18, 2004.

Born January 12, 1931 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Victorio Listrani and Josephine (Spurio), widow of Joseph Comencini.

Gloria attended Reading High School.

She was the owner/operator of Gloria DeLucia Beauty Salon, Reading for 10 years. In 1964 she went back to Empire Beauty School to get her teaching license and then taught at Empire Beauty School for 26 years.

Gloria was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

She started her athletic career playing volleyball in the 7 and 8 year old league at Oak Franklin Playground, Reading. She also played in the Southwest Alumni Volleyball League under Miss Rhoads from 1944-1947. She also played through high school under the Southwest Alumni name and in the evening at the city recreation league, where they had the longest winning record. The Southwest Alumni League's pictures are in the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoak, Massachusetts. Gloria also played basketball and softball, where she played first base.

Gloria enjoyed bowling, golfing, Bingo, baseball and dance recitals, but above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

Gloria was proud to follow her son around the country as he pitched in the minor and major baseball leagues.

Surviving are her two children: Debra L. and Carl J. Cesare and Richard A., husband of Lisa S. DeLucia of all of Cumru Township.

In addition, she is survived by her two grandchildren, Tanner and Brenna DeLucia.

There are also two of her best girlfriends with whom she grew up: Sandy Tobias and Mary Stallone.

Gloria was predeceased by her four siblings: Leah Crupi, Arnold Listrani, Bruno Listrani and Louis Listrani.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
