Gloria M. Bjorken

Gloria M. Bjorken, 86, formerly of Lincoln Park, West Lawn, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2015 at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Wyomissing where she resided for the past two years. She had Dementia for some time.

Born in North Bergen, New Jersey, she was daughter to the late Charles E. and Mildred S. (Allen) Ackerman.

Gloria was the loving and caring wife for 62 years to the late Harold W. Bjorken who passed away suddenly in 2012.

Throughout her life, Gloria held numerous positions and in all sorts of business. Early on, she was an Administrative Assistant in a dairy farm office in New Jersey, and later in life she was a Merchandise Clerk last working at The Toll House Card Shoppes in Sinking Spring until she retired in 1989.

She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Sinking Spring, PA where she actively headed up the Altar Guild for many years, and volunteered for many other church activities.

She is survived by her son, Randall Bjorken, husband of Betti, Wyomissing, PA; one Daughter-In-Law, Mary LaRusso, wife of Gordon Hendershot, Jr., Branchville, NJ. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chef Johan Bjorken of Boston, MA; Sonja Bjorken and Erik Bjorken of Wyomissing PA. Gloria was predeceased by her son, Norman T. Bjorken.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 12 in St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 2848 St. Alban's Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608 (http://www.stalbansepiscopal.org/). A visitation will be offered from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the church with the Memorial Service commencing at 10am. Inurnment will be in the adjoining columbarium following services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Alban's Episcopal Church Building Fund in loving memory of Gloria M. Bjorken at the address above.
