Gloria A. Strauss

Gloria A. (Boaman) Strauss, 81, formerly of Spring Township and Womelsdorf, passed away July 19, 2012, in Berks Heim.

She was the wife of Raymond F. Strauss. They were married on February 2, 1957.

Born in Laureldale, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mabel Boaman.

She was a graduate of Central Berks High School.

Gloria was a member of St. Daniel's Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Deborah, wife of Robert Pullen, Dahlonega, GA, Thomas, husband of Diane Strauss, Wyomissing and Phyllis Wolf, Birdsboro; one step-son, Steven, husband of Carol Schell, Wyomissing; two siblings, James Boaman, Dublin, PA and Joyce, wife of Robert Burkhart, Pflugerville, TX and six grandchildren.

Gloria was predeceased by her son Lewis Frederick.

Gloria was way beyond a loving Wife and Mother; she was the driving force in what her family was all about. She taught us just about everything all of us learned, and set the foundation of love and life in our hearts. Whether it was sports, intense competiveness to be the best we could be, having a blast in the great outdoors, or loving the simple things in life, Gloria (Mom) was the Master. Ray was her soul mate; she loved him so dearly, as she did each of her 4 children. What she taught all of us the most was, that when you wake up the only thing you will ever control is your attitude, and keeping it as positive as possible is truly the only way to go, each and every day.

We will miss her dearly, so many special things about her. We will never forget the country drives where she exhilarated our souls, or the constant striving to go through life with a smile… but it was the deep caring, loyalty, commitment and love she had for her family and friends, and Jesus that will never, ever be forgotten. We will all see her on the other side, the one she was devoted to, Heaven and the Almighty God she loves so dearly. God Bless her lovely and precious soul.

A Celebration of Life will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be private.
