Glenn Harry Petery

Glenn Harry Petery, 79, passed away in the Reading Hospital, Sunday, January 3rd, 2021. He was the husband of Shirley (Rohrbach) Petery.

Born at home in Hamburg on August 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Elda E. (Henn) Petery. He was a member St. John's Lutheran in Hamburg. Glenn was a 1959 graduate of Hamburg High. He was also a Boy Scout in Troop 184 Hamburg and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Glenn was employed first with Wolfe Dye & Bleach where he started working at the age of 18 and was Vice President of Operations after 42 years there. While working there, he was a jack-of-all-trades with the former Burkey & Spacht Funeral Home, now Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home in Hamburg. Later, he was employed with East Penn Manufacturing in maintenance for 15 years before retiring.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing and camping. Glenn was an Eagle's fan and enjoyed woodcarving.

In addition to his wife, Shirley; Glenn is survived by a daughter, Sherry (Petery) Zohner of Shoemakersville and a son, Michael Petery and his wife, Bethany of Reading; four grandchildren, Troy Zohner of Tupper, NY, Traci Zohner of Shoemakersville, Madison Petery of Reading and Grace Petery of Reading.

Also surviving is a sister, Carol (Petery) Adams of Hamburg.

A graveside memorial will be Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at 1pm in Spies Zion Cemetery on Spies Zion Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg is entrusted with the arrangements.
