Gladys L. Krebs, 86, passed away on January 19th at the Ephrata Hospital.
Born in Glen Rock, she was the daughter of the late Earl R. and Mamie V. (Yost) Krebs.
Gladys graduated from Duke University School of Nursing in 1942, and immediately joined the "65th General Hospital," an Army Reserve unit composed of faculty members and nurses of the Duke University Medical Center. The "65th General Hospital" was called to active duty in July 1942 and served through September 1945. In fall of 1943, the 65th was ordered overseas to it's first hospital site near Malvern, Worchestershire, England.
She was a Registered Nurse and an Operating Room Supervisor for Victoria Hospital, FL, for many years. Gladys was also the owner and operator of Animal Lovers, West Coral Gables, Fl.
Gladys was an Army World War II veteran.
She was also the past Chaplin and Flag Bearer for the American Legion VFW in Coral Gables, Fl.
She is survived by one niece, Peggy Miller, South Heidelberg Twp. and one great-nephew, Christopher Miller, Temple.
There will be a graveside service at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Glenville. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of the arrangements. www.kuhnfuneralhome.com
