Gladys V. Heckman

Gladys V. Heckman, 88, formerly of West Reading, died December 15, 2010, in Country Meadows.

Her husband, Russell E. Heckman, died January 2, 1994.

Born in Ashland, PA, she was a daughter of the late Norman L. Hubler and Elsie E. (Bachman) Hubler.

She was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School.

Gladys was employed for 20 years as a cafeteria worker at Wyomissing Middle School, retiring in 1996.

She is survived by her son, Richard R., husband of Helen Heckman, Newton, NJ; and her daughter, Leigh A. Redwine, wife of Scott M. Ririe, Ashburn, VA; three sisters, Ruth, wife of Kenneth Clay, of Coatesville, Pearl Hubler, NJ, and Lynn, wife of James Mann, AZ. Four grandchildren, Richard R. Heckman, Jr., Melinda M. Zarzyski, Maraline M. Ashley and Randall R. Heckman and nine great-grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Ann Louise Heckman and one sister, Norma Reese.

Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Wyomissing Cemetery, Gouglersville.
