Girard Burkart

Girard "Jerry" Burkart, 75, of Spring Township, died May 24, 2010 in Reading Hospital.

Born in Berks County, he was a son of the late Samuel G. and Ottilia R. (Maurer) Burkart.

He was a 1952 graduate of Central Catholic High School.

Jerry was a U.S. veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was employed for 29 years by Gilbert Associates as a control system designer.

Jerry was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church.

He was a past member of the Boy Scouts of America, Toastmasters and American Mensa, LTD.

Jerry is survived by three children, Kathryn I. Burkart, TX. , James M., Reading, and Rachel A. Burkart, Wernersville and two brothers, James, Reading and John D., VA.

A prayer service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
