Gina (Cirulli) Cirulli, 96, of Temple, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Born December 11, 1929, in the farmlands of Schiavi di Abruzzo, Italy, she was the youngest daughter to the late Berardo and Concetta (Falasca) Cirulli.
Gina always dreamed of a better life in America. After many difficult years during World War II, she finally received the news she had been waiting for. She arrived in the United States aboard a ship called The Independence with the remaining members of her family—her mother and sister, Simonina—leaving behind her son, Pierino, and husband, Ascenso, until their arrival three years later.
She never complained and was a hardworking, caring woman. She went to night school to learn English and became an American citizen. Gina worked at the Berkshire Knitting Mills at the age of 23. She also owned and operated the Temple Hotel from 1972 until 1981, which stayed in the family until 2003. She worked hard her entire life. Gina loved cooking, cleaning, gardening, and most of all, her family. Family was everything to her.
She is survived by her sons: Pierino (Carol Brownlee), Joseph, and Johnny Anthony Cirulli (Marcy Frantz). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Michael Cirulli, Kevin Cirulli (Ciara Reyes), Katie (Jon Pendergast), Becky Cirulli, Jessica (Derek Schoiack), Joey Cirulli (Nicole Cirulli), Gabrielle (Chris Ramirez), Dillon Cirulli (Taylor Hasker), and Katalia Cirulli. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Gina was predeceased by her husband, Ascenso Cirulli, brothers, Giuseppe and Silvino Cirulli, and sisters, Angelina, Darina, Maria, and Simonina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 10:30AM at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605.
