Gilbert R Birdsey

Gilbert R. Birdsey, 71, of Reading, passed away March 3, 2014 in the Reading Hospital.

Born November 19, 1942 in Hartford, CT, he was a son of the late Ralph Lathrop and Millicent (Peterson) Birdsey.

Gilbert attended University of Hartford, where he studied business.

He was involved in the real estate market and was an active member of the R.E.I.A. of Berks County.

He is survived by his two sons: Jason A., husband of Natasha M. Birdsey, Asheville, NC; and David M., husband of Nahne Birdsey, Westerly, RI; and two step-daughters: Lori D. Corza, West Reading; and Lisa A., wife of Thomas Crabtree, Dover. Also surviving are his siblings: Wayne Birdsey, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Janice, wife of Denver R. Schroeder, Coventry, CT; seven step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

Services will be Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 6 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Berks County Humane Society, 1801 N 11th St., Reading, PA 19604.
