Gertrude "Trudy" M. Barette

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gertrude "Trudy" Barette on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Born October 8, 1930, in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, Trudy lived in Pottstown and Emmaus, PA, and Ocala, FL, and most recently resided at Frederick Living Facility.

Trudy lived a full and joyful life. She loved traveling to visit her granddaughter in St. Kitts and treasured summer family vacations at the Delaware beach. A talented seamstress from a young age, she worked in factories, made her own clothing, and later owned an alterations business, creating bridal and bridesmaids' gowns. She also lovingly sewed sundresses for mission work in Africa.

Later in life, Trudy learned to ski and delighted in taking her grandchildren on trips to Canada and Vermont. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, daily walks - no matter the weather - and especially loved playing games with her grandchildren and doing jigsaw puzzles.

She was the beloved wife of the late David Barette and the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Weinsteiger. She is survived by her siblings Barbara Kriebel (Vince), and Ruth Meitzler, and was preceded in death by her brothers Albert Weinsteiger (Eleanor) and Charles Weinsteiger.

Trudy leaves behind three children, Joan Dekret (Jeff), Robert Riegner (Robin), and Ronald Riegner (Duane); five grandchildren, Kevin Bachman (Melissa), Stefanie Lauko (Ryan), Lindsey Mason (Corey), Troy Riegner (Paige), and Corbin Riegner (Jen); eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her creativity, strength and deep love for her family.

Private memorial services will be held in her memory by the family.
