Gertrude Hierl

Gertrude Hierl, 94, formerly of West Reading, died Sept. 5 at 1:15 a.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Spring Township, where she had resided since Oct. 7, 2002.

Her husband, Karl Hierl, died Dec. 11, 1996.

Born in Neumarkt, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Laudenschlager) Kerschbaum.

Hierl had been employed for 42 years as a mender by Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing, retiring in 1971.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Hierl is survived by a grandson and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Frederick L., on Jan. 29, 2002.

Private services and entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
