Geraldine M. Morrell

Geraldine Marie (Bodenschatz) Morrell, 74, of Maidencreek Township died April 24, 2012 in Chestnut Knoll Nursing Home, Boyertown.

Jerrie was born February 28, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary (Acker) Bodenschatz.

Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Berryville, VA, where she spent the next nine years of her life.

The family returned to the Langhorne, PA area in 1946.

Jerrie never forgot her years growing up in Virginia and visited her life long friends annually.

She was a 1955 graduate of Neshaminy High School and the Class Valedictorian. She attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing.

Jerrie was the wife of Dr. James E. Morrell for the past 53 years and 10 months. They moved to Berks County from Bucks County in 1979.

She worked as a Health Aide for Berks County Head Start for 13 1/2 years, retiring in June, 1993.

Jerrie loved working with young children.

She was an avid gardner and enjoyed making artifical floral arrangements.

Jerrie was predeceased by a brother, William F. and a sister-in-law, Mary (Roach) Bodenschatz.

Also surviving are two daughters: Kathleen A. and her husband, Jonathan Bower and Bonnie J. Morrell.

There are also two grandsons: Nicholas James Bower and Shane David Bower and two nephews: Richard and Brian Bodenschatz.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated Saturday, May 5th at 11:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visistation will be held one hour prior to services.
