Gerald R. Weidner, 71, of Muhlenberg Township was killed October 21st shortly before 11:00 am after his motorcycle struck a pickup truck on Shartlesville Road, Tilden Township.

His wife, Shirley C. (Long) Weidner, died May 16, 1991.

Born in Laureldale on October 5, 1935, he was a son of the late Chester G. and Esther E. (Davidheiser) Weidner.

He was a 1953 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

Gerald was a member of Rosedale United Church of Christ, Laureldale.

He was a member of Retreads, Eastern Pennsylvania Motorcycle Club; American Goldwing Association and GWRRA Motorcycle Club.

Gerald was employed for 30 years in the maintenance department at Carpenter Technology, Reading, retiring in 1994.

He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Weidner of Muhlenberg Township and Shirlene Weidner of Lyons.

Gerald is also survived by two brothers, Melvin Weidner of Muhlenberg Township and Clifford Weidner of Laureldale.

There is also a grandson, Dustin Green of Lyons

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in Rosedale United Church of Christ, 1301 Bellevue Avenue, Laureldale, Pa 19605, with the Rev. Richard A. Leiby officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter, Twp. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
