Gerald "Jerry" Rapp, Jr., 83, of West Lawn, died November 11, 2007 in Manorcare Health Services, Sinking Spring.

He was the husband of Helma-Maria (Schwichtenberg) Rapp.

Born on December 30, 1923 in Reading, he was the son of the late Gerald, Sr. and Martha (Roggen) Rapp.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Force during World War II. Serving from 1943 to 1947.

Jerry was employed as a florist for Giles the Florist, Reading, from 1947 to 1955, he was a Police Officer in the Borough of West Reading from 1955 to 1962 and he was employed as an Insurance Agent for 42 years with State Farm Insurance, West Reading, retiring in August, 2002.

He was also the former President of the West Reading and Wyomissing Lion's Club for two separate terms and later a member of the Shillington Lion's club. He was the founder and former head of the West Reading Playground Association, a member of the Shade Tree Commission, West Reading and a member of the West Reading Fire Company.

Jerry was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Sinking Spring.

Surviving is one daughter Susan Q. (Rapp), wife of Joseph Sickler, Wernersville, and two sons, Jon, husband of Diane Rapp, Shillington, and Jeremy M., husband of Christine Rapp, Lower Heidelberg Township.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Christine and Andrew Sickler, and Danielle, Jason, Steven, Amber, James and Angela Rapp.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Reformed Church, Sinking Spring. Rev. William Fryer, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Reformed Church, Sinking Spring. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
