Gerald J. "Bud" Ramer, 94, Reading, entered into rest with his loving family by his side February 10, 2009, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.
His wife, Dorothy M. (Stichter) Ramer, died March 24, 2001. They were married 62 years.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Franklin F. and Mary Jane (Foley) Ramer.
Bud was employed for 23 years in the textile industry. He retired in 1983 after ten years with Birch Craft Kitchens. He then worked as a school crossing guard for 12 years at Northwest Elementary School.
He was a life member of the 15th Ward Democratic Club and an avid Notre Dame Football and Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan.
Bud is survived by three sons, Ronald G., husband of Geraldine A. Ramer, Reading; LeRoy A., husband of Patricia A. Ramer, Reading and Franklin F., husband of Pamela T. Ramer, St. Lawrence. Six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Bud was predeceased by three brothers, Forrest, Claude and Leo and three sisters, Dorothy, Margaret and Regina.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
