Gerald Gurney Long, 77, of Muhlenberg Township, died July 31, 2007 at 9:28 am in Phoebe Berks Health Center, Wernersville.
He was married September 13, 1952 to Joyce Ann (Henne) Long, who died October 18, 2003.
Born in St. Joseph Hospital, Reading on October 27, 1929, he was a son of Erma Lando.
He was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School.
Gerald was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He was employed 42 years was a lineman with Metropolitan Edison, Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1991.
Gerald was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Reading, where he was the "Chief cook and bottle washer", had served on the consistory and was a boy scout leader with the church for 10 years with the troop #222.
He was a 32nd degree F&AM with the Chandler Lodge #227, West Reading.
Gerald was a life member of the 14th Ward Republican Club.
He is survived by two children, Karen S. (Long) wife of Damon M. Liever of Upper Macungie, Lehigh County and Scott A. husband of Deborah E. (Kemp) Long of Muhlenberg Township.
Other survivors include four grandchildren, Kari A. Long, Erin N. Long, Patricia J. Liever and Christine S. Liever.
Services will be Saturday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 8:30 am until time of services.
