Gerald J. Kane Jr., retired secondary math teacher, died of natural causes March 14 at 11:50 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Feb. 4.
Kane, 72, Spring Township, was the husband of Magdalene M. (Mullen) Kane.
He was employed for 23 years as a secondary math instructor by the Wilson school District, retiring in 1983.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Gerald J. Kane Sr. and Anne B. (Kelly) Kane.
Kane was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1959 graduate of Kutztown State Teacher's College with a bachelor's degree in education.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
Kane was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is also survived by a brother, Michael B., Reinholds; and five sisters: Mary L. (Kane) Drennen, Margaret L. (Kane) Rogosky and Catherine T. (Kane) Askey, all of Sinking Spring; Suzanne J. (Kane) Bingaman, Shillington; and Patricia A. (Kane) Callahan, West Lawn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call Saturday from 8 until 9 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
