George William Wolfe, Jr., 74, died November 22, 2006 in his Wyomissing residence.
He was the husband of Janice Elizabeth (Harner) Wolfe.
Born in Reading on May 5, 1932, he was a son of the late George William Sr., and Ella Christine (Horst) Wolfe.
He was a part owner of Wolfe Dye and Bleach, Shoemakersville for 30 years, serving as President for 15 years, last working in 1986.
He attended Muhlenberg High School, was a 1950 graduate of New York Military Academy and a 1954 graduate of LaFayette College where he served as president of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
George was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a 1st Lieutenant from 1954 - 1955.
He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.
George was a treasurer of the Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County in the 1990's; a member of the Reading Public Museum; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Winterthur (Del.); Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Vir.); Friends of the Conrad Weiser Homestead; Berks County Historical Society; Pewters Collectors' Club of America and Porters Lake.
Wolfe is also survived by a son, Michael D. husband of Judy (Hanscom) Wolfe of Portland, Maine and a daughter, Alison (Wolfe) Izzo of Hummelstown, Dauphin County.
Other survivors include two brothers, Peter H. husband of Elizabeth (Corbit) Wolfe of Wyomissing Park and Philip D. husband of Joanne (Leyda) Wolfe, Wyomissing and three grandchildren; Jordon M. Izzo, Jessica E. Wolfe and Grace E. Wolfe.
There is also a mother-in-law, Hilda H. Harner of Mechanicsburg; a sister-in-law, Jane (Harner) wife of Ronald Barnes of New Cumberland and seven nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be private in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Historical Preservation Trust of Berks County, PO Box 245, Douglassville, PA 19518.
