George Francis Vogel, age 65, passed away on September 6, 2026, at Reading Hospital. Born on December 19, 1960, in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of George A. Vogel and Mary Elizabeth Mangan.
George graduated from Holy Name High School in 1978 and attended Sacred Heart before earning his PharmD from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Known as a true "jack of all trades," he brought dedication and passion to everything he did. A devoted family man, George shared 31 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Theresa A. Vogel. He was a proud and loving father to his children, Elyse K. Vogel and T. Gehrig Vogel fiancé of Polly Prout. His warm spirit lives on through his cherished family, including Patch, Shadow, Max, Hickory, and Bo his fur babies. George is survived by his loving siblings: Rosemary, wife of Thomas Checket, Kathleen, wife of the the late Berry Berkenstock, Elizabeth, wife of the late Scott Duffy; Steve husband of Bonnie Toye, the late Anita DeBellis, wife of Anthony DeBellis; the late Jonathan Toye and Pete, husband of Laurie Toye. He was also survived by nieces and nephews: Brian, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Karen, Sean, Ryan; great nieces and nephews: Sarah, Corey, Maura (deceased), Dylan, Ian, Nick, Daniel, John, Hannah, Amelia, Kaina and Kalicki, great-great nieces and nephews: Lillian, Thomas, Finion and Rory.
An avid fan of sports and the outdoors, George loved baseball, golfing, and serving as a football coach. He found joy in trips to Disney, relaxing on the beaches of Wildwood and Cape May, and above all, spending quality time with his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 740 Cherry St., West Reading, PA 19611. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, from 5pm to 8pm and Thursday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc. 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Berks Catholic High School, 955 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611 in George's memory. Kuhn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
