George L Rivera

George L. Rivera, 67, of Myerstown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

Born in Orocovis, PR, to Pedro Rivera of Reading and the late Eneida Pagan Rivera, George graduated from Reading High School '76 and from Penn State Berks with his Associates in Computers.

He worked as a machinist for DANA Corp. for many years and later worked for I. Auman Machine Company. Recently retired, he continued working part time for the Coca-Cola Company.

Whether he was gliding across the water on his sailboat, galloping through the countryside on horseback, or reviving the engine of his beloved Harley, George enjoyed the freedom to pursue what brought him joy. His close circle of friends who shared these passions will miss him deeply.

Left to treasure George's memory is his father, Pedro; his siblings, Maria Rivera-Young, wife of Ed Young, of Cumming, GA; Pedro Rivera, husband of Brenda, of Reading; and Lucy Rivera of Kenhorst; his many nieces and nephews as well as their families; and his god daughter, Magdalena Florence; as well as his horse, Maylee. George was predeceased by his mother, Eneida, and his sister, Carmen S. Rivera.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 740 Cherry St, West Reading, PA 19611, with committal to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 16, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading PA 19611, and again Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the start of Mass at the church.
