George Francis Reading

George Francis Reading Jr., 87, of Laureldale, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Hickory House Nursing Home in Honeybrook. He was the loving husband of Sally Ann (Craig) Reading, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George Sr. and Agnes (Leonard) Reading. He graduated from LaSalle University, class of 1960, and was commissioned into the US Army. He enjoyed a career in pharmaceutical sales and banking. His love of music showed through his talent with both piano playing and directing the Holy Guardian Angels church choir for more than 30 years. A devoted Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, George also enjoyed golfing and fishing with family and friends, as well as cooking gourmet meals. He was an avid reader, WWII buff, and animal lover. He was proud of his Irish heritage and family roots in Philadelphia's Mummer's Parade traditions. Above all, he treasured his role as a husband, father, and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory are wife Sally; daughters Kelly Myers (Robert) of Downingtown and Kathleen Deren (Edward) of Birdsboro; and grandchildren: Madison, Connor, Thomas, and Meghan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA, 19605. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Laureldale.
